Winter in Florida & Spring in SC -Jan. to June, 2012

Winter in Florida

2012 has been a great year so far!  We left Irmo Jan. 22 and went to Myrtle Beach...one last check-up for the motor home at Camping World, and then a few days in Hilton Head for Glenn's annual stress test and check-up with his cardiologist. Both were good again...yeah!!!

Our next stop was Savannah to meet up with Roger and Maria LaHaise, our next door neighbors in Irmo and the best next door neighbors anyone could ever hope for!  And, yes, they were going to be our next door neighbors in Florida for the winter...they in their 5th wheel with their cat, Mona, and us in our motor home with the "girls"!

We spent several days in Savannah and had a great time visiting their son, Jim, and his family and then moved on to St. Augustine where we spent some time with their son, Stuart and his 3 boys and spent a day in "Old Town St. Augustine".  Too much fun!

February 1st we are at our destination for the month...Seasons in the Sun RV Resort in Mims, Florida...a "suburb" of Titusville.  The weather was amazing...most days in the 70's and evenings in the low 60's!  Maria and I realized pretty quick that we had not packed enough "summer" clothes so, alas, a little shopping was in order!  It was such a fun month with time allowed for relaxing and lots of "day trips". I'm just going to attach a lot of links to our "adventure" pictures since, remember, it is now May 26 and I am playing "catch-up" with the blog!

Duane and Debbie Rowe visited us our last 2 days in Florida.  They have been "full-timing" the last 2 years (we visited them in South Dakota last July) but have recently bought a house in Arizona (I guess now they are "seasonal RVer's" like us!), and were on their way to South Carolina to pick up their belongings in storage from when they lived in SC.  It was really great to see them again!  March 1st we headed back to SC...first stopping for 5 days in St. Augustine again, 5 days in Savannah again, and finishing up with 5 days at the Isle of Palms before returning to Irmo to enjoy another South Carolina spring season.

Spring in South Carolina

Our spring has been relatively uneventful...a welcome relief from the last three years when we were either moving to or from the Isle of Palms!  Our yard is looking beautiful again, thanks to Glenn, and we have been able to take our time getting settled and organized as well as spend more time with family.

Some highlights for me were spending the day at Riverbanks Zoo with our three nieces, Jennifer, Erin and Meredith, and their 7 children, attending 2 of our great-nieces' dance recital, and attending our nephew, Bradley's graduation from the SC School of Leadership.

Well, I'm sure you have figured out by now that I have not edited any of the photo albums...I guess that will have to wait for another year!  Particularly since we are leaving on another trip in a week, June 3...destinations all over the New England and Canada...but no schedule or time frame.  That means more unedited pictures in web photo albums! It's going to be a busy week getting ready so...

SEE YOU JUNE 3!

Playing Catch-Up - October, 2011 to January, 2012

Well, it's been a while since we have posted.  Coming back to the real world, after 4 months of traveling, just wasn't a whole lot of fun!  First of all, there was the unpacking.  Not only of the motorhome but also our storage building!  Remember, in May we "sort of semi" moved back into our house in Irmo...really just the furniture and "basics".  Now it was time to move the rest of our things and "get organized".  Not a lot of fun!  And I have jokingly said the last couple of years in our moves back and forth to the Isle of Palms that I was allergic to our dust because I always get a sinus infection after loading and unloading boxes.  Well, guess what?  It happened again only this time much worse!  I won't go into the details but after 5 visits to doctors over the course of 6 weeks and even more different antibotics and tests, I was finally well...just in time to decorate for Christmas!

Actually, I started trying to "catch-up" the blog in January before we left for Florida.  Not only did I not get caught up, I am now further behind!  It is now May 25, 2012 and we are leaving June 3 for the New England states...which means if I am going to keep up the blog for our next trip I need to get caught up from our last trip...or trip before last because I haven't posted our last trip!  OK...bear with me...I will try to make this as brief as possible.....!

So...October was filled with moving back in and all that goes with taking care of things at the house and visiting with friends and family.  November was filled with the same, plus 2 great weeks at Ocean Lakes RV Resort in Myrtle Beach with friends and getting the motorhome serviced at Camping World, where we purchased it.  A bonus of the trip was a "mini-reunion" with my 2 brothers, sister, and sister-in-law.

Me, Maria LaHaise, Snookie Nash and "the girls"...

and Roger LaHaise, Joe Nash and Glenn watching football games on the TV outside the motorhome.

Dinner at Lee's Inlet Kitchen in Murrell's Inlet with Jack, Pam, Ellen and Tommy.

Lunch at the Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach...what wonderful memories we have of our childhood!

A visit to Mother and Daddy's "resting place".

Dinner at the Sea Captain's House.

A very cold night watching the Myrtle Beach Seahawks play Bluffton.  Too much fun going back to a Myrtle Beach football game since my brothers played football and my sister and I were cheerleaders back in the late 60's and early 70's!

The end of a great day at the Grande Dunes Marriott with coffee and hot chocolate!

November ended with a stop in Florence at my sister's on Thanksgiving Day, celebrating my birthday at Jean's with the Nashes and LaHaises, and a really great Carolina-Clemson football game with USC winning again!

My nieces, Meredith and Erin, were my best birthday present ever on Nov. 27, 1978!

Love my "Little Buddie" Jean!

Glenn's "girls" ready for the BIG GAME!  Go Gamecocks!

December started off with my nieces, Jennifer, Meredith and Erin, and nephew, Bradley planning a surprise birthday lunch for my sister, Ellen in Columbia.  What a great day...all of our great-nieces and great nephew were there too!

A trip to Greenwood to celebrate Glenn's dad's 87th birthday.

Teresa, Russell, Cody and Bryan came to Irmo from Michigan for a few days before Christmas and then we went to Greenwood to celebrate Christmas with Glenn's family.  So much fun we didn't take many pictures!

We celebrated New Year's weekend at the Isle of Palms with our friends Danny and Judi Bishop and Ronnie and Donna Salley. It was a wonderfully quiet one shared with special friends.

January means it's time to "kick it in" and get ready for our "Winter in Florida"!
