September 3, 2012 - Falmouth and "The Knob", Cape Cod, MA

I bet you are wondering what (or where) "The Knob" is!  Funny you should ask!  As I was told by a "local" who was visiting a friend at the campground today, it is a wonderful place, a landmark in Falmouth known mainly by locals, to leisurely walk with beautiful views.  She said "please try to go there before you leave tomorrow...you won't be sorry".  So we did and she was right...we aren't sorry!  The Knob http://www.300committee.org/knob.htm is a rocky outcropping that overlooks Buzzards Bay and Quissett Harbor. To the far left the Elizabeth Islands mound on the horizon.  The towns of Wareham, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Fairhaven follow the coast from right to left.  Sakonnet is the last town before the coast shifts around into Rhode Island Sound.  WHAT A VIEW!!!

Anyway, we were just planning to go into Falmouth to get another great pizza from Stone L'oven Pizza Co. and then Walmart and the store.  I was walking "the girls" before we left when this "local", her friend, and their daughters wanted to pet "the girls" (they do draw attention...they are just too cute and love meeting new people!) so we really weren't planning to go on a hike.  Anyway, we decided to at least drive over to "The Knob" before we got our pizza.  It was beautiful and our pictures don't do it justice since we got there at the worst time of the day for taking pictures...mainly facing the sun.  We did still get some good ones...in spite of the sun!

The "girls" ready for their walk!  If I do say so myself, it's easy to see why they draw so much attention when I walk them!

Stone L'oven Pizza...so good!!!

We leave Massachusetts for Rhode Island tomorrow and I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much we have loved visiting this state and how nice, friendly, and helpful the people have been!  And this campground (Cape Cod CampResort http://capecampresort.com/) has been "the best"!  It honestly is one of the "best laid out" and "well maintained" campgrounds we have stayed at with the "friendliest" and "most available" staff available to help, if needed.  Do we want to come back...absolutely!

  1. That looks like a wonderful place for a walk!

Ready to hear (and see) all about Rhode Island. It's been close to 40 years since I've been there...guess it might have changed a bit!
