Upon the recommendation of someone we met in New Hampshire, we decided to go to Wickford, Rhode Island http://wickfordvillage.org/ today for our "adventure". What a lovely, quaint village with lots of 18th and 19th century houses, a picturesque harbor and fun and unique shops! We had so much fun talking to Susan, owner of Different Drummer http://www.differentdrummerri.com/home.htm and her staff, Ilse and Michelle! In addition to owning this fun and unique shop, Susan is a fantastic photographer...I had to buy some of the postcards of her prints! And...small world...Ilse and her husband live at Sun City on Hilton Head Island in the winter, and her husband has the same cardiologist that Glenn has! We loved walking down main street taking pictures of historic homes and churches. Old Narragansett Church http://www.colonialmeetinghouses.com/mh_wickford.shtml (more commonly called Old St. Paul's) is one of the oldest Episcopal churches in the US, dating back to 1707...so interesting and picturesque! Unfortunately, it was closed and we didn't get to go inside. We did get to go into the current St. Paul's Episcopal Church http://www.stpaulswickford.org/ and got to talk to some parisheners....I think I already said "interesting"! The "new" church is beautiful also and the stained glass windows are magnificent! We bought some fresh seafood at Gardner's Wharf Seafood Market http://www.gardnerswharfseafood.com/ to bring home and eat tonight...and it was "SO GOOD"! They were kind enough to "ice it down" for us because we wanted to go to Providence before we came home. Unfortunately, we "ran out of time" to really site see in Providence, but we did get to the State House http://sos.ri.gov/StateHouseTour/ to take some pictures.
Tomorrow we will "move" to Mystic, Connecticut so hopefully our internet service will be better and I can write more and upload our pictures from the last few days.
Until then.....
They're uploaded! Yeah! Click on the links to see our pictures!
