Memories...pressed between the pages of our minds...
We decided to stop in Hot Springs on our way home because we have fond memories of being here twenty something years ago. We were at a correctional association conference and stayed at the Arlington Hotel. Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas and was the Keynote Speaker at the conference. Such charisma and such a powerful presentation! Little did we know at the time that he would be elected President! We also remember a TV commercial against the lottery and video poker and still laugh about it to this day! Picture this...husband comes home having just lost his paycheck playing video poker. As soon as he walks in the door looking like he lost his best friend, his wife (holding a baby) looks up and says "baby needs new shoes". It certainly got the message across! We still remember it!
Anyway, we enjoyed the town so much then we wanted to come back. And we wanted to visit the National Park, something we didn't have time to do then since we were working.
This afternoon, after we got settled at the campground (which is great, by the way), we headed downtown to, again, "get the lay of the land" and see how much the town and Arlington Hotel have changed. It's such a pretty town, as you can see in the pictures! By the time we got downtown, many businesses and the National Park were already closed, but we still had fun walking around and taking pictures. Tomorrow we will go back to actually "visit" the National Park!
