Day 96 - September 8, 2011 - Holbrook, AZ

What an easy drive from Flagstaff to Holbrook...straight interstate and very flat and bare terrain...in many cases like we could see forever!  Beautiful weather, but not beautiful scenery!

Love the owners of the campground!  Even though we are in the desert with few trees, the campground is so clean and well maintained and the owners are so personable with great senses of humor!  Holbrook is a small town with many businesses closed...sad.  I know I have said a lot of people are nice, but Flagstaff and Holbrook are at the "top of the totem pole" right now as far as nice people!

We were going to ride over to the Petrified Forest National Park Visitor's Center to get a start on our visit tomorrow, but got side-tracked on the way at a petrified wood gift shop!  Very interesting and fun!  We stayed too long to go to the Visitor's Center (it closed at 6:00), and a thunderstorm was brewing, so we came back to the campground and watched Green Bay beat New Orleans.  Fun, since we were in Green Bay in June and toured Lambeau Stadium.

Tomorrow we will go to Petrified Forest National Park and The Painted Desert...tune in to "hopefully" see some beautiful pictures!
