Day 117 - September 29, 2011 - Pigeon Forge, TN

Memories...the last time we were in the Great Smoky Mountains was with Daddy and Tona...probably 7 or 8 years ago.  It was a beautiful day, like today, and we just drove made a few stops along the way.  What a wonderful time and what wonderful memories!

We started off driving through Gatlinburg...it's been years and years since we have been there...and it was so crowded...as much or more than Pigeon Forge!  And it's Thursday, school is in, and the leaves are just beginning to change!  We can't imagine what it is going to be like in a few weeks when the leaves really start changing and it's a weekend!  Or around Christmas when everything is decorated and everyone is "outlet" shopping!

Anyway, we enjoyed a beautiful drive to Cades Cove and saw deer, bears, and turkeys (in addition to the beautiful scenery)!  Unfortunately, the pictures I took from inside the jeep while we were moving are not very good, but we did get some pretty good shots when we stopped and got out of the jeep!

  1. So exciting that you saw bears at Cades Cove! We were there last fall and no wildlife! Agree about crowds in Gatlinburg...couldn't get out of there fast enough!!
