June 12, 2012 - Luray Caverns and Downtown Luray, VA

Our morning was SO RELAXING...very much needed for both of us!  Then we headed to Luray Caverns, a U.S. National Landmark featuring a profuse variety of formations and unsurpassed natural color. We explored cathedral-sized rooms filled with towering stone columns and crystal-clear pools and listened to the world's only Stalacpipe organ.  It is "the largest and most popular cavern in the East" and "the most beautiful cavern in the world"...really breathtaking!  We really enjoyed it and took lots of pictures!  Luray is also home to the "Luray Singing Tower", a 117-foot Belle Brown Northcott Memorial Carillon, containing 47 bells and is one of the nation's major carillons. Beautiful! Then we toured around the town and downtown and wrapped it up with a trip to "Wallyworld" aka Walmart!  Here are some pictures to entice you to browse through the whole album!
