Well, we're on the road again! And what a wonderful start to our new adventure! Several of our friends stopped by the house to wish us a wonderful and safe trip, and the weather was beautiful...just like last year when we left on the same day for our "western" adventure! We left Irmo at 12:45 and arrived in Mt. Airy at 4:00. This is a very quiet and spacious campground...just what we needed after doing all that is necessary (and pack!) to take an extended trip! And checking in was just like you would think it would be in Mayberry (woops, I mean Mt. Airy). There was a note on the door saying "pick the campsite you want and check in at the office tomorrow morning" and "call this number if you need anything"! I guess they don't work on Sunday...just like the "good old days"! We picked a site on "Opie Taylor Avenue", and the "girls" love it because there is lots of green grass to frolick in!
Roger, thanks for taking our "going away" pictures again!
We took our usual 15 minutes to set up, then rode into town and, surprise, everything was closed, except chain stores and restaurants on the outskirt of town. We settled on a Ruby Tuesdays, had a nice leisurely dinner, and came home and crashed! It's a quaint town, as many of you know, so we will enjoy relaxing and exploring "Mayberry" tomorrow (and eating the porkchop sandwiches we have been told are "must eats" at a cafe next to "Floyd's Barber Shop")!
See you then!
