Today we slept late again and then seriously "cleaned house"... inside and out! Something badly needed since we have been "on the road" two months.
It was a beautiful day...really perfect to "spring clean"! I did take a few pictures around the campground...a family reunion in the picnic area and lot of people swimming, fishing, and paddling on the lake.
Then we met the cutest, nicest, and most outgoing and interesting couple, Rod and Amy Burkert, and their dogs Ty and Buster. They are both accountants and were living in Pennsylvania when, in 2009, they quit their jobs, bought a Winnebago, developed a website www.gopetfriendly.com and started traveling the country looking for pet friendly places to include on their website. To date they have traveled 40,000 miles and their blog "TakePaws" http://gopetfriendlyblog.com/ has become an encyclopedia of travel advice and pet friendly destination guides. I know this because after we visited last night at our place I spent several hours on their website and blog (instead of updating our blog!). Now, those of you who don't have pets cannot understand how BIG this is and how hard it is to find pet friendly places to stay (hotels, campgrounds, etc) and take your pets to (restaurants, malls, parks, etc.) to when you are traveling. Did I say this is BIG!!!!!
We really wish we had met them earlier in the week because we had so much fun with them last night. But one thing I know, we will follow them in their travels and they will follow us in ours and we will meet again! "Waggin' Trails" to you Amy and Rod!
I took the time to look over their website. Great info for us pet people!!
