Today was a big day! The "girls" got groomed and I got my first manicure and pedicure since we left on our trip! We were all overdue!
Then we drove out to another Visitor's Center and then to Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve. He was, and still is, known as "Mr. Conservation"...quite an amazing man in his time. He founded numerous conservation organizations and contributed to the development of the national parks system. His dad, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. had donated 33,000 acres to the park in 1949, but retained over 3,100 acres around Phelps Lake as a family Retreat. Laurance Rockefeller inherited the 3,100 acres and in 2001 gifted it to the Park, envisioning a place where visitors could experience a spiritual and emotional connection to the extraordinary natural beauty of Phelps Lake and the Teton Range. We did not get to do the hike to Phelps Lake because it started raining, but the Center was exceptional! Maybe we will still get to do the hike before we leave.
Then we shopped and had dinner in downtown Jackson. A really fun evening. And now I am at the laundramat! What can I say...it was a great day but not necessarily a great evening. Well, I guess it could be because we have clean clothes again!
Click on the link below to see today's photos. You will see some pictures of a moose, bear, cubs and a few of other wildlife. While we would like to say we took those pictures, unfortunately, we did not. They were in a slide exhibit at the Center and I was playing with my camera...pretty good, huh!
Oh...and if the "girls" do not look happy in the pictures, they weren't! I took the pictures when I got back from the laundramat and they hate the flash from the camera! They are just so pretty and fluffy after being groomed...the pictures don't do them justice!
