Boy do we love this city already! And this campground! We are downtown and just blocks from Historic Temple Square and a multitude of other sites, shopping, restaurants, museums, gallerys, etc. The campground even has a round-trip shuttle that picks up at the campground and downtown every thirty minutes! Many of the Olympic Legacy Attractions are within a walking or short driving distance. The outdoor activities with the mountains and lake surround us...we can even see the mountains from our campsite. And the list of options for us goes on and on! In other words, Salt Lake City is definitely our kind of town! We have listed many more things we want to do than we have time for during the three days we will be here.
This afternoon, after we got settled at the campground, we went to The Gateway, a mall that feels like small-town main street with wide sideswalks, friendly storefronts, and sidewalk cafes. At the center is a dancing fountain, a stone version of the 2002 Winter Olympic snowflake logo that shoots water jets synchronized to the Olympic theme music every thirty minutes! Kids love it and it was so much fun watching them dance around in it! We didn't leave until 7:30 and could have stayed later except the "girls" needed to go out and be fed.
We only took a few pictures today of the drive, the campground and The Gateway. Click on the link below to see them.
