July 1, 2012 - Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain, NY

Today was about as perfect a day as could be!  The high was 75 and we spent it all outdoors in the midst of glorious mountains!  We drove to the top of Whiteface Mountain and then hiked to the summit...totally awesome and breathtaking!!!

Then we went to an "outdoor" store in Wilmington and had a fascinating conversation about the area and fly fishing with a really interesting and outgoing man...duh, can't remember his name, but took pictures!

We couldn't leave the area without going to Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort!

Then on to High Falls Gorge, one of the last remaining Climax forests in the United States, to hike the trail beside the falls.

And then to top it off, we had a delicious trout dinner overlooking the Flume Falls section of the West Branch of the Ausable River, one of America's most legendary trout streams.

We absolutely LOVE this area and hate that we didn't allow more time here...which means this area is on our list to return to!  Tomorrow we leave on our next "adventure"...Vermont!
