July 27, 2012 - Scarborough/Portland, Maine

We woke up to rain, but it had cleared by the time we left Bar Harbor.  We had a good drive to Scarborough, a suburb of Portland Maine.  The location of our campground will be good for a number of the "day trips" we plan to take.  And would you believe the largest mall in Maine is only 4 miles from our campground!  Aren't we the lucky ones!  And, yes, we did go there shortly after we arrived!  What can I say???

The campground, Wassamki Springs, is family owned and operated (6th generation) and sits on a 30 acre private lake, which we may paddle on while we are here.  It's rustic, as have been all of the New England campgrounds we have seen thus far, but well maintained with very nice staff and lots of activities.  Here's a few pictures of the campground.

Tomorrow we start our "adventure" at Old Port and the Portland waterfront.  Should be fun!
