Day 26 - Sioux Falls SD

It was a beautiful day...but hot!  High 90's when we got to Sioux Falls. There's always a breeze here but today it was a warm breeze and definitely not enough to provide relief!  The drive from Rochester was great and the campground is nice but since we, fortunately, got the last site available, we are on the interstate and our site is not as shaded and large as some of the others.  Not a problem for us as we are only going to be here 2 nights.

We immediately headed out on another adventure...first, the Old Courthouse Museum.  A beautiful building...Glenn was fascinated with the architecture...and "unique" exhibits instead of historical Sioux Falls.  It was fun!  We were in such a rush to get to the museum, we forgot to put money in the parking meter and got a parking ticket.  However, they must have hearts here because it was noted on the ticket that it was a complementary ticket to remind us to put money in parking meters!  So now we have the ticket as a souvenir!

Then we went to Falls Park on the Big Sioux River! It was  Awesome!!! And what a beautiful park! Definitely a "must see" in Sioux Falls.

A beautiful building on top of a hill that can be seen from, I guess, anywhere in Sioux Falls drew our attention and we had to go see what it was.  St. Joseph Cathedral, constructed in 1916, overlooks the city like a mother looking over her child.  It is beautiful, as is the neighborhood surrounding it.

We had been told by our son-in-law, Russell, as well as someone we met in Green Bay that they had had the best steaks ever in Sioux Falls so we had to find a steakhouse.  We went to Foley's Steakhouse.  Very nice and the steak was very good but Russell still wins the prize for grilling the best and juiciest steaks...hands down!!!

Back to the campground...feed the "girls" and go for a walk.  They have adapted so well to this lifestyle...thank God!

It's late so I will post pictures tomorrow.

Leaving Rochester, MN

Glenn's hooking up the Jeep!

Shirley was so nice.  This was a great campground! I highly recommend it to anyone going to Rochester!

And we're off.....enjoy some of the scenery along the way!

Old Courthouse Museum

For the man who has over 300 pair of underwear in every color and style (some of you understand...) can you believe he is blushing!!!  Yes, we had fun with this exhibit!

Did you know that hot air balloons seen all over the world are made in Sioux Falls?  Who would know that we would be such a wealth of information for our southern friends and family!

Norwegian Style Loom

American Indian Beadwork Exhibit

The history of bicycles!  Another fun exhibit we can relate to!

And, of course, we had to see this exhibit!

Scales...ohh...scary!

We used to have to have skills to use a cash register!

We're taking a break and going to Walmart.  Will finish posting pictures when we return!  I know you are waiting with "baited breath"!

We're back..now for the rest of the Courthouse Museum!

Glenn taking the parking ticket off the Jeep!

St. Joseph Cathedral

Falls Park at Big Sioux River

Yes...we walked the 82 steps to the tower and back down!

Love in 2011...He's texting and she's talking on the phone!

No...I'm not mad! Just concentrating on where I am walking...or maybe thinking!  It could just be a pained look from thinking!

And now for our steak dinner at Foley's Steakhouse!  Yum!

And a good time was had by all!

  1. Nice to hear about Sioux Falls. Have only spent one night there and it was pouring down rain, we saw nothing!

When traveling on I-90, a quick visit to the Corn Palace in Mitchell is fun. They have RV parking. Very unique!
