I mentioned in an earlier blog that the Spearfish City Campground is full this weekend because of the Festival in the Park, so we had to move to KOA Campground in Spearfish today, about 3 miles away. It is nice, sites are roomy and it is well maintained, but it's still not as pretty as Spearfish City Campground, where we have been staying and where Duane and Debbie are living this summer. Then we toured the D. C. Booth Historical National Fish Hatchery, where Duane and Debbie are volunteering this summer. It is across the street from the campground and next to the park...very convenient and quite impressive! It was created in 1896 to propagate, stock, and establish trout populations in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming and is dedicated to fish culture and resource management. Today, the Fish Hatchery serves as a living fisheries museum. Still rearing trout for the Black Hills through a cooperative effort with the State of South Dakota, the hatchery also serves to protect and preserve fisheries records and artifacts for educational, research, and historic purposes.
Dinner at a at local mexican restaurant followed. As many of you know, chips and salsa are my favorite meal! It was so good and I am so full...I think it's time for a siesta!

We're so glad you guys came to visit us in Spearfish, mostly because we loved seeing you and it was such a fun week, but also because we now have the most complete photo collection of our work experience at D.C. Booth that we could ever hope for! Thanks so much!!!
