Day 43 - July 17, 2011 - Medora ND

We have arrived in Medora, North Dakota!  And it's HOT AND HUMID!!!  If you look at "weather where we are" on our blog, it says we are in Beach, ND...27 miles away, which is where the weather tower is...but we are really in Medora.

Very interesting terrain between Spearfish and here...and one long, straight road.  When we arrived at the campground the owner said they "get very little snow here because it gets too cold to snow"!  OK...I learned something else new!  I didn't know it could get "too cold to snow"!

This campground is not near as nice as the others we have stayed in but the owners are very nice.  They will be visiting South Carolina, Tennessee, and some other southern states this winter (to escape the cold)!  I will remember that when I complain that I'm cold this winter!!!

We decided to go to the Theodore Roosevelt National Park Visitor Center and then check out the town.  Fun.....

Leaving Spearfish and riding along with us to see some of the sites along the way to Medora, ND.  Keep in mind, these pictures were taken through a dirty windshield!

But first...Whitey, the grounds manager at KOA Spearfish.  What a nice and outgoing man!  He and Glenn were talking about the Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis next month.  This year will be his 35th year attending in a row!

On the Road Again.....

Remember, Belle Fourche is the geographical center of the country (all 50 states).

And now...the moment you have been waiting for...South Dakota and North Dakota terrain...in that order!

We have arrived in Medora and our campground!

The best part about the campground is the view from our campsite!  We actually were lucky to get a campsite here...many campgrounds were, and still are closed due to the recent flooding in North Dakota.

Now, to check out Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Medora so that we can prioritize our plans for the next two days.

And then back to the motor home to plan tomorrow's activities and make reservations for our next few stops.....
