Now let's see...what did we do 2 days ago...that's right...
We started the day (briefly) in the big city of Interior, SD a few miles from the campground and then went to the Badlands National Park Visitor's Center and the Gift Shop next door.
Glenn makes friends everywhere we goes! This guy is from Asheville, NC!
Wall Drug Store! What a trip! Like a mini-amusement park with shopping galore! What a blessing the Hustead's were to the community when they started Wall Drug Store in 1931! We have no idea how many employees they have but they certainly provide a lot of employment opportunities for the locals. And then the millions they take in from visitors...
Both of us have this thing for hats so we had to try some on...no, we didn't buy any but we laughed alot!
Our next stop was the Prairie Homestead. It was built in 1909 and has been preserved as though a homestead family was living there today. And we got to see our first prairie dog...actually, a number of them!!!!!
SPECIAL NOTE: There will be even less order to the pictures from now on (believe it or not, I really have tried to post them in some order up to now!). Between the 2 of us, we are taking hundreds each day...too much fun! Anyway, I lost the internet between Rapid City, SD and Custer and, once again, we have terrible phone and internet service at the campground. I am sitting in the Jeep in front of the office posting this, if that gives you an idea of the reception at the campsite! There may also be duplicate pictures. I'm doing even less editing now and just trying to get pictures posted for those of you who are following us each day...love you guys!
We were going to wait and start Badlands National Park tomorrow (July 4) but on our way back to the campground we couldn't resist stopping and the next thing we knew it was several hours later and we had taken hundreds of pictures! I am going to post some of them now (really...not as many as I would like because the "badlands" are so amazing!).
As most of you know, I have never been accused of being observant so...yes...I am watching every step I take!!!
The White River is next to our campground.
And now Glenn is "studying" for our adventure tomorrow!
