Day 27 - Sioux Falls SD

I just finished posting the pictures from yesterday in case they weren't posted when you viewed yesterday's blog.

Now for today...we slept late and then went to Perkins for a late breakfast/early lunch.  Then we went to the USS Battleship South Dakota Museum.  It was interesting, inspiring, and made us thankful for all that our parents and their generation did for us.  The USS South Dakota was launched June 7, 1941, commissioned March 20, 1942, and was the most decorated battleship of World War II.  By the Battle of Guadalcanal, the Japanese had reported on two different occasions that they had sunk the South Dakota.  For security reasons she was thereafter referred to as Battleship "X".  As a bonus, we met 2 men who served on the battleship during WWII.  They were in town for a reunion.  Did I say fascinating?

The ceiling in the museum was taken from the USS South Dakota.

That truly was the "great generation"!
