Day 38 - July 12, 2011 - Spearfish SD

What a great day!  We started the day by traveling the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway to Cheynne Crossing, a historic stage stop, for breakfast and then spent the day hiking trails in Spearfish Canyon.  This unique area has rugged cliffs, beautiful Spearfish Creek with three amazing waterfalls, and a rich landscape dominated by pine, spruce, aspen and birch trees.  Spearfish Creek runs the length of the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway and through the city, winding through the campground and park where we are staying (which is where Duane and Debbie are living this summer).  It was a wonderful day outdoors, made even better by being with such good friends!

We keep saying that we are not going to take so many pictures but, obviously, we still do!  Why...you ask?  It's because everywhere we have gone is so beautiful!  We take a picture and then another...then another...and many times we are taking the same pictures!   Then, trying to pick the ones to post from between 500 to 800 thumbprints each day is very hard because we are seeing so many beautiful scenes and interesting .  This week we have Debbie's pictures too!  Lots of different shots and scenes and some of the same too!  Anyway, I think you understand...this part of the country is amazing and we are so thankful that we are able to experience it!
