Day 14 - Mackinaw Island

We didn't think it could get better...but it did!  We (and our bikes) took the ferry over to Mackinaw Island. The island and the Grand Hotel are awesome!!!  It was such a good day that we took almost 700 pictures between us!  No...we won't put them all on the blog!!!  Which is why I am not going to write anymore tonight.  Tune in tomorrow for more details and some pictures of today's amazing day!

The ferry ride over was great...but it was "a mite chilly"!  We were able to get some close up pictures of the bridge and once we arrived we immediately went to a restaurant to get coffee!  Then we happened upon a "really neat" outdoor clothing store, ha!  Finally, our bike trip around this fabulous island began!  By the way, Glenn told me not to try to take pictures while I was riding my bike.  Obviously, I didn't listen.....!

We decided to ride up to the Grand Hotel first.  The hotel and grounds are breathtaking!   And yes, for those of you who have asked, this is where the movie "Somewhere in Time" was filmed, starring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour.  It also was listed as one of the 10 "must see" places on the MSN home page several weeks ago! Also, in order to get inside, or even in the front, of the hotel, you must buy a ticket!

We could have spent the day at the Grand Hotel having lunch and just sitting on the porch and walking the grounds, but we had to leave if we wanted to see more of the island...hope you enjoy the ride!

Leaving Mackinaw Island

I think you can see from the pictures that we really had a wonderful day.  So much to do and see and so little time...

I hope the pictures were worth the wait!
