It's Thursday and we are on our way to Toledo. Thank you Verizon for better coverage now and our "5-Spot! Hopefully I can use my time wisely and post pictures while Glenn drives! Here goes.....
Leaving Fox Inn Campground
I missed the "Welcome to Kentucky" sign. Talking on the phone...imagine that! Anyway, have no fear, I got pictures at the Welcome Center!
We decided to stop at the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea and spent 1-2 hours facinated by the creative talent of so many artists and Berea College. The first picture was when we exited I-75...Glenn had to pee (thank God we have a bathroom in the motorhome!) and we were only .2 of a mile away from the center! When you have to go you have to go! Those of you who have traveled with us know I had to take a picture to add to my collection!
This picture was captioned "Art From Dryer Lint"! Who would have thought...
These hats are made from all types of wood, only weigh a few ounces and, yes, they can be worn! They onlycost $700-$800! No, we didn't buy one!
Glenn loves handmade instruments (he has several) and kept eyeing this dulcimer. It was way out of our price range so I just took a picture!
Emily, you were so right when you said I would see so many things that I would want to buy for friends! And we haven't even gotten out west yet! This was one of them! To those of you reading this blog...you know I thought of you! I didn't buy any so you will have to save this picture on your computer as a reminder that we thought about you! You know who you are!!!
This basket was made with pineneedles! It was gorgeous and very detailed! And very expensive!
I am "MiMi" to our grandsons and I really love salsa, so I couldn't resist taking a picture! Didn't buy any because I knew I would eat it and it's too early in our trip for me to go on a "chips and salsa" binge!
I thought of this as a "self portrait"! Scary, huh!
This stained glass was priced at $680.00. Hard to imagine someone would pay that much!
Jean, this one's for you! Only $430.00.
Back on the interstate trying to get pictures of horse farms. I succeeded!
Duane and Debbie, we named our Garmin GPS after yours...Marge...and we have now fired her! We listened to her when she said "turn right" and rode right past the campground on the left! We thought, "where are we going to turn around on this 2 lane mountain road! About a mile down the road we came to Boat Dock Road and Glenn said "there will be a boat landing down here somewhere"! What a smart man! There was...so we turned around and finally make it to Big Bone Lick State Park on Beaver Road in Union County! We now know that "Bubba" the navigation system in the motor home is much more efficient!
This is a small (62 site) and very pretty, well maintained, and historical state park. Max, the campground manager, was so personable...he is retired from Square D and works at the campground in the summer so that he can spend his winters in Florida! He is perfect for the job!
Did I mention the "girls" have been a big hit at the campground! And the "bark collars" are one of the greatest inventions!!!
We decided to visit the Big Bone Lick State Park Museum but they had just closed. We walked around the outside area and decided we would come back tomorrow to see the museum and bison.
Did I mention it's REALLY HOT???
